We are proud to announce that Confide was mentioned in the Autumn Statement as one of the beneficiaries of the LIBOR Fund. We are set to receive over £11,000 in the new financial year. This funding will enable us to develop a bespoke project to provide counselling to the Armed Forces Community. Through the grant any serving member of the armed forces or veteran or thier immediate family will have access to free counselling. We are absolutely delighted to be receiving this grant and we look forward very much to working with the Armed Forces in Shropshire.

Phone Confide - Lottery Success!!!

Volunteers and staff at Confide Counselling Service are celebrating after securing almost £10,000 from Big Lottery Fund to develop a new telephone counselling service. The funding will be used to purchase specialist telephone equipment and train staff and volunteers to provide counselling over the telephone to vulnerable and disadvantaged clients.
Chief Executive Janet Radford said the funding would make a huge difference to some of the most hard to reach clients in the county. “Shropshire is a deeply rural area and for those without a car getting to the centre of Shrewsbury for an appointment can be time-consuming and costly, this service will enable our clients to have their therapy from wherever it is most convenient for them. In addition this will make life easier for our clients who are disabled, living with a long-term health condition or for those with caring responsibilities who simply find it difficult to leave their home”. It is hoped that the new facilities will also reduce the number of missed or cancelled appointments “We often see people who are suffering from anxiety to such an extent that leaving the safety of the home to come to their appointment is too much of a challenge and they can go several weeks between appointments, to be able to offer the client the alternative of having their therapy over the phone will make sure that the people that need support can still receive it. The continuity should help them to recover earlier.”

Confide continues to support community Well-being Events - 13th September 2016

We have been very busy over the summer attending a number of community and employee well-being days. Our staff and volunteers have been travelling round the Shropshire countryside taking with us lots of information and promotional materials to support people to take care of thier mental well-being. Chief Executive Janet Radford said it was really important to raise awareness of mental health and how to take care of it "People often think about thier physical health but its equally inportant to be aware of our mental health. Shropshire has quite high rates of mental ill-health and suicide when compared to the rest of the West Midlands, we want to make sure everyone knows how to contact us if they feel they would benefit from counselling."
